Residential Care Home

Our Staff

The owners of Chatsworth are Mr and Mrs Rhodes and Mr and Mrs Davey. They have worked here for 33 years and have set the high standards that we continuously work towards. Their own parents came to live at Chatsworth when they became elderly and frail.

The Manager, Sally Colwill,  has worked at Chatsworth for 23 years, while initially starting as a domestic she has worked her way up through all of the job roles and has now been the Manager for over 10 years.

Over the years, Sally has gained many qualifications some of which include N.V.Q--2,3,4, Leadership and Management training as well as completing a nine month course specialising in end of life care.
"Lovely home, staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble for them, I would recommend this home"  -Patricia D

Over the years Sally and her team have won many awards for Chatsworth including, Dementia Quality Mark, Six steps to success (end of life care) and, in 2009, Chatsworth was voted the best care home in the south west. We also take great pride in being rated as good in all categories in our CQC inspections for many years.

Sally believes that residents should be able to maintain a good level of independence and encourages them to speak out to ensure that they receive the level of care how and when they want. Sally believes it is the staff's job to fit in around the residents and not for the residents to fit in around the staff's routines.

Our staff at Chatsworth receive a considerable amount of training every year; this we feel is essential in order to ensure that we keep up to date with any changes as well as promoting best practice. Some of the training that our staff receive include the following:- first aid, food hygiene, health and safety, infection control, Dementia, Parkinson's, Stroke, diabetes, equality and diversity, mental capacity, deprivation of liberty, fire, falls, equality and diversity, oral hygiene, pressure care, end of life, medication, safeguarding, advocacy training. We also constantly look into new avenues of training that may be specific to the residents that we have at that time and pride ourselves in being very diverse in our approach to training.

Our staff turnover is very low, we do not and never intend to use agency staff as we do not think this is right for Chatsworth. We feel it is important for residents to know who is assisting them and to have familiarity. We have a good staff:resident ratio.

All of our staff complete an enhanced criminal record check before starting employment here at Chatsworth.

Our staff came up with their own set of values that they feel represent Chatsworth which are:-

KEEP SMILING - You smile, they smile.

HONESTY - Always open and transparent, open door policy for good communication.

TEAMWORK - Bringing different skills and knowledge to create one dynamic team.

PASSIONATE - Be enthusiastic and positive, creating a fun environment to work, live and visit.

OPEN MINDED - Always diverse towards others' personal and religious preferences.
